Drawing from the Camino de Espejos project.

Camino de Espejos  is a visual journal that accompanied me throughout the span of a year, resulting in a compilation akin to a photo album. A series of drawings unfolds, unveiling an exploration of identity, memory, personal mythology, and their symbolic narratives deeply rooted in family heritage, emotional terrain, and life experiences. This collection of intimate and subjective illustrations, capturing stories, symbols, and archetypal figures, resonates with both the collective and universal consciousness, thus untangling the paradox inherent in this duality. This journal invites critical reflection on how one constructs and evolves their self-image, how personal narratives are interpreted and shared over time. It delves into the mending and reinvention of memories, considering the fluidity of perceptions and their continuous transformation under the shadow of doubt.

The self-portrait assumes a central role as a tool for self-observation and engagement with the myriad identities and characters that coexist within me. I embody the central character of the work and simultaneously serve as the model, an observer of my own portrait.

Within this multidimensional framework, the journal not only unveils a myriad of existing identities but also lends form and substance to the intangible. By depicting ‘Overthinking’ and ‘Uncertainty’, the project extends the concept of portraiture beyond mere physical representation. These mental states, once captured within the work, not only articulate my internal concerns but also provide a tangible means to address and engage in dialogue with them.

The journal culminated in an exhibition held in Barcelona on December 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2019. Alongside, each image/photo’s visual journey was complemented by live narration, enhancing the viewer’s experience and enriching the exploration of the visual narrative.
